SUMMARY

This double issue of MPP, one we are pleased to submit to our readers, is dominated by a block of materials devoted to the EU’s relations with Eastern Europe. Bordachov and Moshes analyze the changing policies of Putin’s Russia vis-à-vis Europe; Trzeciak, Cichocki, and Pełczyńska-Nałęcz portray the dilemmas of EU policy toward Russia and Ukraine; Ćwiek-Karpowicz describes the Russian party system together with Russia’s doctrine vis-à-vis the EU.

Thereafter we detailedly present the results of the election to the European Parliament. This includes voting rates and a map of European and national parties at the forum of the EU.

Łukasz Hardt (Sobieski Institute) has submitted a program for reforming the EU’s agricultural policy that is based on the postulate of its renationalization. Irish Minister for European Affairs Dick Roche TD offers a program for the EU’s democratization. Next come the EU programs of Poland’s center-right parties PiS and PO.

Another important block of materials is that of the most recent reports of the Index of Economic Freedom (Heritage Foundation, Wall Street Journal). Next we recommend four texts on globalization: the first by T.Teluk of the Adam Smith Center; two reviews of J. Stiglitz' Globalization; and a review of J. Staniszkis' Wladza globalizacji - soon to be published in an expanded English version as The Power of Globalization.
